Gásadalur Village in the Faroe Islands
Gásadalur is on the west-side of Vágar, Faroe Destinations, and enjoys a spectacular view over the island of Mykines.
The Canal of Gasadalur, Oct 2005
Gásadalur is on the edge of Mykinesfjørður, enclosed by the biggest hills on Vágar. Árnafjall towers with height of 722 meters to the north, and Eysturtindur to the east with 715 meters high. Here too, the perspective southern to Tindhólmur and Gáshólmur is quite magnificent
There is a tale that the town was named as after a lady known as Gæsa, who came from Kirkjubøur. She had consumed meat during the Lent fast, and for this unholy action all her real estate asset was seized. She fled to the valley on Vágar, which was named after her. Most other town stories are about spirits and elves.
A more likely description is that Gásadalur (Goose Valley) is named as after the wild geese, which from olden days have journeyed to the area.
Look what i found in http://www.360cities.net. A 360 view of Gásadalur! :))
