Stone Forest National Park, China
The Stone Forest in Kunming, China is a playground of shaped rock
structures. Made of basalt rock, these stalagmite type formations are
not uniform in size or shape, yet they appear as carefully molded
structures. A walkway bends and turns around and through the rock
shapes. Geologists believe these formations occurred at least 270
million years ago. Water erosion is believed to have caused the various
shapes in the stone. There are four different areas of the park
including the Greater, Lesser and Outer Stone Forest. Each area’s
structures are varied and a bit whimsical.[source]
